Powerlifting Australia’s 2021 Anti-Doping Policy in Force Now

Powerlifting Australia has from 1st January had in force a new Anti-Doping Policy. This is the Australian National Anti-Doping Policy, which can be found on the Sport Integrity Australia (SIA) website here.

All Powerlifting Australia members, including lifters, coaches, referees and officials, are bound by these rules, as may be contracted support personnel or employees.

It is important that all members understand their obligations under the new Policy. Changes in 2021 include a new anti-doping rule violation of Retaliation, a category of lower level athletes and flexibility in sanctioning for certain levels of athletes or participants. Also note that the Powerlifting Australia Australian Championships have been included in the SIA list of “Declared Sporting Events or Competitions” which helps to define National level athletes in the sport of Powerlifting.

Further information can be found at SIA’s website. Also keep watching Powerlifting Australia’s Drug Free Sport and Sanctions pages for information on Powerlifting Australia’s anti-doping programme.
