AUSTRALIAN LIFTER AND COACH INFORMATION
The 2024 World Powerlifting Championships will be held at the Sydney International Convention Centre from October 11-13 at AusFitness Expo. Only a certain number of lifters can fit into those three days and nations will have quotas as to the maximum number of lifters for their team. For Australia the quota at this stage is 32 lifters.
Particulars of the Championships can be seen at worldpowerlifting.com/events
For Australian lifters aiming to compete at the World Championships the following applies –
- a small number of lifters have been pre-selected to the Australian team on the basis of their international results in 2023 and 2024
- you can make yourself available for selection by depositing the Championships entry fee + anti-doping fee asap into the Powerlifting Australia bank account asap; fees are –

Reference – your name
- the Australian team will be selected after the Australian Championships on July 13-14, by c. July 20th, from those who have made themselves available for selection by depositing the entry + anti-doping fee as above. Performance in the Australian Championships will be the prime criteria for selection from those who have nominated; as per the PA Regulations if injury or similar impedes or precludes your performance at the Australian Championships this may be taken account of if documented
- if you are selected for the Australian team your nomination will be provisionally confirmed and no refunds after that date will be made; if you are not selected your fees will be refunded in full by 30th July
- final confirmation of your team selection will come after you purchase the Australian team uniform from the PA Shop (i.e. green and gold suit + green and gold bar grip shirt) and also complete and return the PA Australian Representative Team Code of Conduct
- if any places remain in the Australian team after completion of the above by c 20 July last minute team selections will be considered on merit. However this is unlikely as all indications are that this event will be heavily oversubscribed and any excess places will go to other nations.
For selection as an Australian team coach send an expression of interest to [email protected] asap. Note that selection as a Team Coach requires qualification as a PA NCAS Coach, completion of the Team Code of Conduct and compliance with team uniform requirements.
