2017 OCEANIA CHAMPIONSHIPS & PACIFIC INVITATIONAL

Tropical Singapore was the venue for the 2017 Oceania Championships, with Team Australia to the fore as ever. Our top performers were up there in World Record territory. Wendy Chan at 47kg set Junior records with 132.5kg Squat, 150kg Deadlift & 355.5kg Total. Then 59kg Joshua Luu set a World Junior Record Deadlift 241kg, whilst SubJunior Victor Adis-Iosifidis was also a record-setter with 265kg Squat.

At the other end of the age spectrum Masters perennials, Graham McDonald and Eric Dumas were standout winners with 747.5 kg @ 120kg and 681kg @ 105kg respectively. Quality performances also came in from Christophe Ang 637.5kg @ 74kg, Tara Gripton 420kg @ 63kg and Arief Hunter, back from injury with an even 700kg @ 93kg. And who could miss Nolene Kingi with an Australian Record 215kg Deadlift on the way to 530kg @ 84+kg.

From here Australia goes on to the 2018 Oceania Championships, confirmed for the Pacific Powerhouse of Nauru. The home team of Jezza, Bronco, Deamo et al will make the 2018 team title a tough job for Australia.
